After a down day that turned into a 90 minute chase of a, now EF-4 rated, tornado… today’s Moderate Risk turned into a kind of a bust.
Breakfast, Walmart, CNN interviews and off to the first storms south of Hays. They turned into an unorganized mess pretty fast. New storms appeared, heading to Kansas from Oklahoma. While the storm did get a tornado warning we never saw anything close to even a funnel.
We tracked the storm and stopped a few times to take pictures of the amazing structure and finally a nice sunset. A long drive to Wichita followed, in the middle of the storms that had now turned into a squall line, moving east at about the same speed as we did.
Dinner at Denny’s and now sleep… one more day of chasing to go.
